It is almost back to school time and this mama has an obsession: Lunchboxes!! This Artsy Foodie Mama is trying hard to figure out how to feed Mina for lunch and pack it. Mina is like me: she is a picker and likes lots of little things to choose and munch from. The lunchboxes out there make my stomach turn with their designs and functionality.
I remembered when I cooked for the Tea Grotto years ago, we made up prepared Bento Boxes with healthy nibbles. Bento Boxes are simply a take-out box, Japanese style, with lots of little containers fitting into a bigger closed box.
HMMMM….Off I went to Pinterest land to see what the other crazy mama’s are doing.
I am no stranger to getting creative in the kitchen with my girls from rainbow shaped homemade pasta to cookie cutter shaped turkey burger’s and fries…we can get pretty crazy over here. However, I took a look at some of the bento boxes being made and I realized there is a whole new world out there in lunch design.
My search into Kid’s Bento Box Land landed me an awesome site with lots of ideas and tips. I am all about help from other moms who have been there/done that! Right now, my brain is going through my mental Rolodex of cookies cutter supplies, mini containers, food possibilities. The
re will a trip to the Asian market this week sometime to check out cute containers.
Surprisingly enough, I am not tempted to sew a bento box carrier. I do have a limit! Hard to believe but true. Free Templates online does not mean I need to do it. Maybe I will feel differently in a few months, but not at this time.
Any thoughts, tips, suggestions regarding kids and lunches will be loved and appreciated by MOI!
