It’s time to slowly let go of the “brake” of what has been holding you back and start moving. It’s time to get out of your own way. Our belief system of what we think we “can’t” do prevents us from moving forward. The other day, we took the time to write down all the “I can’ts” and then destroy them. Now , we took the time to write down all the negative thoughts that we believe to be true and flip them into a positive affirmation. Reading the positive flips aloud starts the shifting, and don’t be surprised if you start shifting in your seat as you hear yourself say such self-praise and positivity! It’s easier to be positive for someone else, but somehow we don’t apply the same care and love for ourselves. It stretches a bit beyond out comfort level. This is the beginning of strengthening the Self-Love muscles! Like any exercise, the more your do it the easier it gets.
Once comfortable with reading aloud the flipped statements, it’s time to create some more! Here are a few guidelines from the book to help get your going:
- Start with the words I am
- Use the present tense
- State it in the positive. Affirm what you want, not what you don’t want
- Keep it brief
- Be specific
- Include and action “-ing” word
- Include at least one dynamic emotion or feeling word
- Make affirmations for yourself, not others
If you close your eyes and say these affirmations in your head (or out loud) what sorts of pictures do you see? Can you recall these mind movies in your head each time? Keep practicing because tomorrow, it’s Visualization time!! I want to build to the point where I have a feature film, details and all, playing in my head of what I want for my life. Now, we are working simple movie clips. Little by little we will be able to link them all together for our “feature film.”
