Yes, I missed a day yesterday and couldn’t write or do anything. Life got a little topsy-turvy.
I think in pictures and it is not uncomm
on for me to sit with my eyes closed while someone is explaining something so I can “see it” to understand the concept. Visualizing comes naturally to me. Pinterest has helped refine the pictures. For example, one item on my vision statement is to re-do the attic into an upstairs bedroom. I have absolutely no idea what that would look like or what sort of ladder/stairs would be needed. Putting that search phrase into Pinterest brings up lots to choose from, so I created a Vision Board on Pinterest. Clarity, Focus, and Refinement all help cement it into your brain.
“When you perform any task in real life, researchers have found, your brain uses the same identical processes it would use if you were only vividly visualizing that activity. In other words, your brain sees no difference whatsoever between visualizing something and actually doing it.” pg. 81
If you close your eyes and picture yourself in the future, what do you see? What do you feel? Hear? How real can you make it? My girls know that if they have an idea to do something, they need to give me time to sort the pictures in my head. Even today, we were talking about converting a mini toy animal into a necklace. Allegra said to Mina, “Just give her a minute…She needs to see the pictures in her head of how it will work before we begin. It will take less time that way if she can figure it out ahead of time.”
It is the same concept with visualizing your life. Picturing it out ahead of time makes implementation easier because we have already worked through the problems that may arise and found solutions.
