If you ask me what I came into this life to do, I will tell you: I came to live out loud.
~Emile Zola
Take a minute and think about a person you admire, someone you would like to be when you “grow up.” If you suddenly won a dinner with that person, what would you ask him/her? Here is this amazing opportunity to tap the source – what are you curious about? How did they get where they are? How did they do that?
Stop playing shy! I know there are tons of questions coming to the surface only to get stuck in your throat. I know because I have been there. I am a stubborn girl and BY GOLLY! I am going to figure it out myself before I ask for help or ask how it was done. Yeah.. that doesn’t always work.
What I have learned is that I don’t lose anything by asking. People can always say no, but most times they are helpful in however they can. Want to know what I did? Well, as a matter of fact, I had a few questions of The Success Principles and so I thought I would go direct to the source. I messaged Jack Canfield on FaceBook. Why not? I haven’t had a reply yet, but I was able to chat with a new friend Romeo who just had a training with Jack. One degree of separation now between me and Jack, so I asked Romeo a few of my questions and gained clarity.
The lesson to take away from all of this is persistence and curiosity-be that 3 year old asking for that toy OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!! They are curious and try various techniques on different people for the same result and they are persistent too! Usually, someone says “Enough, OK OK! Here is what you want!”
Here are some steps that were laid out to make it a little easier for you:
- Ask as if you expect to get it.
- Assume you can.
- Ask someone who can give it to you
- Be Clear and Specific
- Ask Repeatedly
