Canfield Challenge: Day 2

What’s your purpose? What sustains you so much on the inside that it can’t help but bubble out when cultivated? What is holding you back from allowing yourself to move toward that dream?

Too often as we grow older and become “mature adults,” our intellect starts the negative self talk and tell us what is or is not possible. Your Heart quietly objects, but Reality dominates, squashing the dream. We should be practical, down to earth, and not live for the pie in the sky dream. Thus, turning our back on our nature to a less than authentic life. Now we have children and they are beginning to dream. What is your answer when your 5 year old daughter tells you she wants to be a prima ballerina and be Odette in Swan Lake? Or an opera singer, singing the part of The Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Magic Flute? Makes you think, doesn’t it? You want her to have her dreams, but you also want her to be aware of the hard work and sacrifice to get to where she wants to be, right?

On the flip side of the coin is this quirky concept: If ballet or singing fills her up to bubble over, getting from point A to point B will not seem like work to her. It is her Passion, her Life’s Purpose.

Taking it a bit further to extend to you and your squashed “unattainable” dreams, clarity and a vision of your ideal life is your road map to lead you to where you want to go. If I was to meet you on the street and ask you what you do or what you want to do, what is your life statement? Shall we do an exploratory exercise?

  1. List two of your unique personal qualities
  2. List 1-2 way you enjoy expressing those qualities with others
  3. Combine them into a single statement

Now READ it!

Yes, Alex and I have done our homework for the day and it didn’t take that long, maybe 10-15 minutes.

Alex: Creating  work  that supports and sustains the environment where everybody can have a roof, eat and find ways to work toward increasing humanity’s knowledge one half of the time and have fun the other half by enjoying life (sports, family, love, traveling, etc)

Me: My purpose is to use my empathy in conjunction with my zest for life to inspire and cultivate families to embrace spicey and intensely rich authentic connected relationships. Everyone is valued and appreciated for their uniqueness as well as how each member blends with others, complimenting the rich dynamics within the family structure.

I would love to hear what your purpose is!! Fill up the comments and inspire others!!
