Color Vs. Black & White: It’s all about personal perspective. Which do you gravitate toward? I have noticed during several conversations that we divide people up into those color oriented personality groups. “He/She is so Black and White!” or “What a colorful personality he/she has!”
Benefits abound in both types, but how can we blend those personalities into one canvas? Yes, I am a “Colorful” personality type who is working on more definition and contrast by actively engaging my more analytical B&W side. I look at these two photos above and I love the red cape, the improvised, smudged lines, and all that sparkly energy around the Lady as she walks. I want to be IN that moment! She is going to have fun and you can feel it. On the other hand, the B&W photo really shows her strength with the deliberate steps highlighted with her black shoes and her pencil thin skirt. She is a balance of feminine strength with the free flowing cape over her slim lined skirt. There is strength as she walks to meet with purpose to meet someone in the distance. Purpose, strength, confidence…but where is the personality?
It all comes down to balance. In order to be more fully engage with life, we need to invite all aspects of our personality into our spectrum. Blur some lines, have some fun, but have a solid framework to work from.
