Dandelion Wishes

dandelion wishes

dandelion seeds float in the air..
by the Bubble Blower sent aloft..
which ones will mystically touchdown..
to root in our hearts?~Author unknown

Last fall, as I watched all the dandelions in my yard raise their white puffy heads at me and snicker, I was hit with a new idea! The concept was to capture those wishes, somehow, and create a pendant to give to friends for Christmas. Snatching up those snickering balls of fluff, I decided to have the last word in weed control and wish propagation.

My main question was: How do I suspend the dandelion fluffs so that you can see the full wish, not just a flattened fluff? Different glues, resins, molds, and I finally figured it out!

How come this project was so important for me?

Watching the girls make wishes on dandelions made me want to bring the magic back into my life and the lives of others. Even as adults, we suspend our concept of reality at least once over the summer, pick a dandelion, whisper a wish, and watch the wind carry it away. At some level, we still believe in the power and magic of dandelion wishing.

I want to keep the wishes alive in the heart as well as in the mind. When you wear your “wish” and see it reflected in the mirror or on the nightstand, it becomes a constant reminder to work toward what you desire. This is your dream seed. Instead of letting it float away on the wind, plant it, plant it NOW in your heart and watch that dream bloom! It is only when we give love and attention to our dreams that they grow, just like a flower. When we forget, dreams whither and die.

I have spent the last year working hard to create a new life. The freedom in which I can move toward my dreams allows me to flow in various directions, ultimately leading to where I need to be. For a long time, my creative spirit was stifled and made to put in a box to  appease the comfort of others: How can you dare to be so creative when others don’t have such luxury? What makes YOU so special? I conformed, I did not create, and I lost part of who I was. How did I become so dull and uninspired, I wondered? Finally, I woke up and realized I had forgotten my dreams and who I was.

It is because I had let my dreams whither to the point of extinction that it became important for me to become the spokesperson for Wish Actualization! WISH IT! DREAM IT! and as Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek would say: MAKE IT SO!

Will my wear a wish necklaces be a successful business? Only time will tell. I took a concept, worked at it and created a product that I am proud of. My validation came yesterday as product samples were requested by UncommonGoods.Com to be considered for their art catalog. Having their interest alone, validates me and validates my creativity. You know what? I am special. It is not a luxury to dare to be who you are intrinsically. It takes courage to step out of the line and say “I may not fit the mold you want me to fit into, but I am still a valuable person with gifts to share.”

Stand up, be strong in your gifts, live your wishes and Make it so~ I dare you!
