I went on an adventure this week: I made my first little video! When I was at the Elevation conference about a month ago, I signed up for Romeo Marquez’s Video Boot-camp. In 4 weeks, we are to learn how to create videos that will help us embody our business message in a more visual way. That’s 1 video a week to get started. A bit intimidating! BUT! My new mantra is to just lean into it and Do it, so I did.
Sunday night, while laying in bed, pictures began to lay them selves out in my head with words coming from different directions. It seemed to easy to execute. Could I bring what I visualized the night before into reality in the morning? Trusting the visualization process I have been going through as I study the Success Principles, I decided to put it to the test.
Using my Iphone to record, I soon realized that my hands were shakey. What did I have that rolled that could support the Iphone while recording? AHA! Mina’s Barbie car rolled! ok…Now what do I put inside to actually place the Iphone on? OH! The container of salt!! Once the logistics were in place, it was Lights, Camera, Action time.
It went pretty smooth. Romeo had suggested I download Microsoft’s free movie maker software and it was really easy to use! Adding music, credits, transitions were super fast. The slowest part of the whole process was uploading it to YouTube-that took close to 40 min, but I am sure it was all on my end because I have a horrible internet connection!
My video is done. It was fun, but far from perfect. What I have learned from listening to Romeo and from Tiffany Peterson’s Elevation conference is that “Done is better than Perfect!” Sometimes, we get stuck in the Perfect trap and need to fiddle until its right. Will it ever be right enough? Or will that fiddling keep us from completion and moving on. It is all about a learning process. Knowing when to do it, knowing when to release it, and knowing when to move on to something else.
I know you are curious and have been very patient 😉 So, here’s the video I came up with!
