There is something about Horses that invokes a stirring inside your soul. The way they look deeply at you, through you, right down to your core and they love you unconditionally. There is wisdom behind those dark eyes that we can only begin to imagine. Their loyalty is unwavering, but what about ours towards them? Once they have out grown their “usefulness,” they are …discarded.
I recently met a woman, Catherine, who has devoted her life to horse and has recently opened up a sanctuary for the neglected, unwanted, or retired horses. In 2011, Noble Horse Sanctuary became the new home for 9 horses who had no place to go and were not considered adoptable. Maintaining this Sanctuary takes time and money to keep the horses fed and healthy. I had heard about Noble Horse from Lyn and soon became involved with the Benefit Garage Sale to raise money for the Sanctuary. It was an amazing experience to see our group come together to make this huge Garage sale possible.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has~ Margaret Mead
We may not have saved the world, but we saved some horses and that feels right in my heart.
