Um…Yes. Hello, is this N.A.S.A? It is? Great! I am a mom in SLC, Ut and I am just wondering if there is some sort of random full moon, solar flares, sudden vortex in the universe happening right now that would explain the girls sudden onset of “out-of-control”ness? Because, really, Mom’s need to have a head’s up on this sort of thing…to be prepared, you know!
Welcome to Vortex of Child Craziness that opened up at home yesterday around 5:30pm! The word “WOW” is an understatement. If I was a cartoon, my face would be a blur as I was pulled each second by a some request or demand of each girl…it was dizzy-ing!
Alex and I decided to take it slow and relax at home yesterday with the girls. A quiet Sunday. We made some fresh pizza dough in the morning for the girls to make pizza dinners. Harvesting the basil, taking out the walnuts we harv
ested last year from the Walnut tree, we slowly moved into mass production of making pesto. The girls were fantastic with self entertaining by being Rock Stars in the living room.
We smiled as we cleaned the basil and shelled the walnuts when we heard Mina “playing” the piano, Zola singing on the microphone, and Allegra dancing in the living room.
THEN IT HAPPENED!! BAM! I don’t know what happened, how it happened or when it happened. All of a sudden, each of the girls, taking turns of course, went nuts in their own way. Emotional outbursts, random questions, requests, complaining like a machine gun hitting me from all directions. I deflected, answered, provided as best I could and shooed them all outside. Alex, quietly making his pesto in the background, commented : Having a tough time meeting all the demands of our little Monster princesses? {smiling as he came to give me a hug}
My head was still spinning a bit as I answered, a bit dizzy, YES!
Dinner done, kids fed, Parents have had a beer…we are on an upswing, right? Time to clean up the room and put toys away. Girls are now silly tired: one throws toys down from the bed, the other throws it back up on the OTHER bed, toys shoved and hidden not put away amidst the stifled, but bursting giggles of big girls. Now it’s Alex’s turn and he steps in to bring order to situation.
By the 7:30, Girls have calmed, cleaned, and have eaten chocolate cake and milk, but Alex and I are a bit battered and bruised from the day. Exasperated, Exhausted, it’s time for bed.
