When I met with Asenath this Tuesday, it was an intensive course on Social Media: Everything I needed to know and do (What, Frequency, Results) on a daily basis. There was number crunching and assignments. She even brought her BIG presentation easel and huge sheets of paper.
Project: How can I engage more people and create more traffic to my site through Social Media?
My extra to-dos’s: refine my Twitter, expand on Pinterest, and figure out Instagram. Let’s get jiggy with it and play! So, I did. Yesterday morning, over my cup of coffee, I revamped my Twitter profile, started adding people and being active. While I was on the computer, I thought I would just connect with a few more people through LinkedIn.
Little did I know that I should have turned OFF my push notifications for both. My phone started dinging all morning long. I didn’t notice anything odd about my phone itself until I got into the car later to go and realized it was HOT and the battery life was down to 25%. By the time I got home, it had reduced even further to 13% and wasn’t charging.
I did some research and one of the ways to keep your phone from over heating is to turn-off your push notifications! Who Knew? All the Twitter new followers, Linkedin accepts, and Pinterest “likes”, had sent my phone into overdrive!
Needless to say, I have since reset my notification settings and my phone is more under control. I knew Social Media and Twitter was Hot right now in marketing, I just hadn’t realized how Hot it could be for my PHONE!! Yikes!
