My Little Mina left yesterday to go to Turkey. It was a mad dash to get everything done and ready before her father picked her up. I spent some time wrapping up little surprises for her plane trip and making a little note-card advent calender for her to take with her. Everyday, she could open a little card for that day and read a little love note from me, letting her know I was thinking about her.
As I was working on making the little notes, that little munchkin scurried away into her bedroom. She was so sweet when she came out and presented me with a “birthday present.” She has had a difficult time dealing with the fact that she will not be here to celebrate my birthday with me. She really really wanted to give me a birthday gift. So, she got creative!
Before I unwrapped her package, she said “It may look like something we have had before but it is slightly different now, ok?”
I open the package and find that she has wrapped up a juice glass. Curious to know what is different about it, I ask “So, can you tell me the story about this glass?”
“Mama, I know this looks like a glass we have, but I filled it up with Mina-Kisses so you can have lots from me on your birthday!!”
I loved my gift!! But that was not all! I got a lovely card too! She feels it is important that when a person gives a gift, they give it themselves with their whole heart. She also took one of her bracelets, held it tight tight tight in her hands, eyes squinted closed in concentration, and then put it on my wrist: Mama, I filled this bracelet with Mina love for you to wear everyday when I am gone to remind you that I love you!
Sweet sweet little Mina, I love you too!
