Last year around this time, my friend, Darby, and I were half joking about creating a business called “Smash & Dash” in which people could come and expel frustration by breaking dishes in a safe place. I was reminded of this concept this week with all the unexpected frustrations that keep popping up unannounced.
I would love to be able to go to place, pay a fee for a stack of dishes and get rid of this pissy energy by flinging said dishes against the wall. Someone else can clean them up while I straighten my hair and resume my day.
Over the past few years, I will admit that there were times as a Single Mom that I would just stomp around or through plastic ware at the wall. Let me tell you: throwing plastic ware against the wall is very anti-climatic. They bounce and don’t break. After, the frustration feels partially cleared, but more silly then anything.
Maybe it’s time to create a “side business” [ha-ha], have a few locations around town where someone could pay a flat fee for dishes, protective eye glasses, and go into an enclosed room to do their business. Then, if they wanted to take it a step further and actually Heal, they could take the broken pieces to art room to make a beautiful mosaic. Shifting their anger and frustration into love and, hopefully, peace.
Since none of those options are available for the time being, a good walk in the sunshine after lunch should suffice. Onward and upward as they say!
