Friday night was the Summer Solstice.

I thought it would be fun to do something “magical” with the girls. We were going to Wake Up the Summer Fairies. The girls are still at an age where they still believe there is magic all around them. It may seem silly, but I don’t want them to every lose that.
There is something so earthy, so connecting to celebrate the changing of the seasons. It seems ingrained in us what we need to do to say Thank You for all the blessings in our life. After gathering little treasures at the thrift store, I let the girls do their thing. What came together was beautiful. Allegra created a Mandala-like circle with old ornaments, strips of material, and assorted odds & ends from her room.
Then, Allegra and Zola decide to dance around the yard, ringing their bells to “wake up” the fairies.”
Watching the girls dance around their circle, Alex and I joked that this was their first lesson in Witchcraft.
Of Course it is! I want them always to believe that have the power inside them to do anything! Also, in the old days, Witches were mainly Natural Healers who used herbs to heal. That leads into our future project of making natural cleaners and skin care. Our skin lately has been itchy and problematic. I need to take another step back from the modern world and make our own stuff. But, that is a blog for another day.
So what if I am raising a family of mini-witches? They will learn the benefits of self care, the Power within themselves, and help others with their gifts. Now, if only I can teach them to magically clean up their rooms with their super powers!
