Wisdom from the Wee one.

Wee Wisdom

“As a child, one has that magical capacity to move among the many eras of the earth; to see the land as an animal does; to experience the sky from the perspective of a flower or a bee; to feel the earth quiver and breathe beneath us; to know a hundred different smells of mud and listen unself-consciously to the soughing of the trees.” ~Valerie Andrews, A Passion for this Earth

Our wee one, Zola, has developed a routine on Friday nights, directing conversations after dinner around the Earth, Emotions, and Magic. It is as if she suddenly turns into mini-child philosopher! Conversations are a fully animated with Drama, Songs, and questions. I love it when she taps into this magical conversation and we take a wonderful ride through her imagination!

A few weeks ago, she was talking about the earth and how to heal it. All of a sudden, she is standing on her chair, arms wide exclaiming how much she wanted to heal the Earth and help humans to heal our planet near the moon! “What is your heart telling you to do to help?” she asks. Turning to me, sadly shaking her head, she says, “But, Mama Leaf, there isn’t a big enough band-aid to heal the earth.” According to her, mean people have little stones in their hearts. This makes their hearts heavy and it’s too hard for angry people to smile up-that’s why angry people are sad because the heavy rocks pull their mouths down into sadness.

This conversation about the earth and listening to your heart went on and on for about an hour as she explained her version of the Universe and how humans live in it. In a weird child-like way, it made sense!

Last night was no different. She announced after dinner that she had special Magical Super Powers: She can make rivers and help them grow. However, she had a little magical “accident’ in the living room and a blue puddle sprinkled out of her feet. She said that magic goes crazy when we don’t control our Emotions. “What are the emotions in your heart?” she asks. She said in a slightly embarrassed way that her emotions controlled her and a puddle slipped out her toes and apologized for making a “mess”. She needed help and was asking me to be the missing piece of the puzzle which would make the puddle disappear.

It always amazes me to listen to the girls when they are inspired with these bits of wisdom. Mina’s thoughts gravitate toward helping and caring for people. Zola wants to heal the world. Allegra is the inventor, creating new things to make others smile.

Because we hold an open space for expression, these loving attributes blossom in so many beautiful ways. I can’t wait to see how they will use these gifts when they get older. They are little ambassadors that will go out into the world and help others love themselves and the world around them
