I met with Asenath yesterday morning and she issued me a challenge: How can you show your heart to everyone and step into your life. Everything has been leading up to this point. Are you ready to jump?
The challenge refers to really living full out and digging into my Baklava for Babies program. I started the program last year. Proceeds from my baklava went to The Road Home homeless shelter to help the children and families. It is something that I believe in with all my heart and I was challenged to make it as big as I could.
I met with the director, Matt, from the Road home yesterday and it went fantastic! How much can I give if given the opportunity! To even think that I could cook in baklava at The Road Home, sell it, and turn around to give them 25 % of the profits was beyond what I thought possible.
At Christmas time, everyone thinks about various ways to give back. People are homeless and hungry past December 25 and how can we learn to become more aware of giving at other times during the year. Many people view my giving as too much, but we, as a society, have so much to give. If we use the 5% rule, how can you give 5% more each day to help someone.
I am not negating Holiday altruism, but it you really want to be Bad-ass, then give of yourself more than once a year. So many people need it.
What am I going to do this Holiday season? Well, I am going to make some Bad-ass baklava and get down to business helping people smile with some sweetness. My revolution is to bring a little baklava bliss to whoever needs it…maybe that’s you!
